What are sight words?
Sight words are common words that children are encouraged to recognize instantly without sounding them out. They make up 50-75% of all words in children's books, making them essential for reading fluency.
What age is this app for?
Sight Words is designed for children ages 3-8, with word lists organized by grade level from Pre-K through 3rd Grade. Each level is carefully curated to match developmental reading stages.
Can I track multiple children?
Yes! The app supports multiple child profiles, each with their own progress tracking and statistics. Parents can easily switch between children and view individual learning progress.
What is the parent PIN?
The default parent PIN is 1234. This protects the parent settings area where you can manage children's profiles and view detailed progress reports.
How does the Heads Up game work?
Hold the device to your forehead in landscape mode. A word appears that your child can see. They describe or act out the word while you guess. Tilt the device down for wrong answers, or shake it for correct ones!
Does the app work offline?
Yes! Once downloaded, Sight Words works completely offline. All word lists, games, and progress tracking function without an internet connection.
How is progress tracked?
The app tracks total sessions, accuracy percentages, streaks, and identifies problem words your child struggles with. Words become "mastered" after 5+ correct answers with 80%+ accuracy.
